This short op-doc follows the work of lawyer Steven Wise in his fight for limited legal rights and protections for certain non-human animals. A feature-length documentary (“Unlocking the Cage”) is in the works and documents Mr. Wise’s struggle to challenge legal structures that prohibit the recognition of animals as persons.
